You Should Endure Jesus’ and God’s Opposition

John 8

31 Jesus told the people who had faith in him, “If you keep on obeying what I have said, you truly are my disciples. 32 You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

33 They answered, “We are Abraham’s children! We have never been anyone’s slaves. How can you say we will be set free?”

34 Jesus replied:

I tell you for certain that anyone who sins is a slave of sin! 35 And slaves don’t stay in the family forever, though the Son will always remain in the family. 36 If the Son gives you freedom, you are free! 37 I know that you are from Abraham’s family. Yet you want to kill me, because my message isn’t really in your hearts. 38 I am telling you what my Father has shown me, just as you are doing what your father has taught you.

Richard: Jesus here indicated that the people made a grave error by not accepting Jesus. He states, in fact, that their father is not God, but the devil.

Joel 3

From the heart of Jerusalem
the Lord roars like a lion,
    shaking the earth and sky.
But the Lord is a fortress,
a place of safety
    for his people Israel.

Inside God’s Stadium

Rev. Sun Myung Moon

1 Corinthians 9: 14-27

Although Jesus worked to fulfill the mission of the Messiah who was to win in this stadium and represent the four-thousand-year history, Christians did not fulfill their responsibility. They were to receive the Messiah’s baton of victory and glorify the two-thousand-year history from Jesus’ time until now. Although Christianity established its form after the death of Jesus, it failed to complete its victorious foundation in the realm of the heart and in other areas. The standard of victory has never emerged.

You should endure Jesus’ and God’s opposition and gain their recognition so that they can raise their hands and bless you. To do so, you should overcome any obstacle. Isn’t that true? If it is, what kind of providential representative does God want to raise up in His providence of restoration? God will want to find victorious sons and daughters to whom God and Satan will surrender. He will want to praise them before the satanic world and in Heaven. If that is what human beings desire, God’s desire must also be similar.

We the members of the Unification Church who are walking the path of truth today will face God’s test in the end. He will say, “Do not walk this path.” Even then, there must be someone among you who says, “I will go. I will die running the race.” If there is no such person, words of truth which surpass the Bible will not emerge. Words which surpass what Jesus left behind when he died will not emerge. Words of truth which surpass what God wanted to speak after the coming of Jesus will not appear.

When we are running this course, we should have the conviction, “Let there be a cross heavier than the one that Jesus bore; let there be suffering, sorrow and pain like God suffered during the six-thousand-year course of the providence. Let the 2.7 billion people of this world be mobilized and shoot arrows at me all at once. Let the humanity of the entire world be mobilized, since both God’s providence and Satan’s opposition are carried out through human beings. I will go to the end of hell and the highest place of the Kingdom of Heaven.” If, after opposing and affirming in your mind you decide that this is the right path, you should begin to run. Once you run, no one should be able to stop you. No matter what comes your way, you are to break through and go forward. Only then can you safely cross over the hill which has been blocked for six thousand years.

Members of the Unification Church, God is longing for brave people who can come and say, “Let us give it a try.” Only then can the will be accomplished. If there are sons and daughters of God who are knowledgeable, have firm determination and are determined to fight, God will not ignore them. What will Heaven do? If you bring hope for the future and say, “Father, isn’t this so? Isn’t this how Your heart is? Isn’t this how the Father’s hope of the past, the present, and hope of the future is? Since this should not be done at present, shouldn’t you ignore this and do this and that?” Then no matter who opposes you, God will say in recognition, “Yes, you are right.”

The True Sons and Daughters of Heavenly Father Who Will Remain in the Last Days

Rev Sun Myung Moon

Romans 8: 12-27

You members of the Unification Church are pitiful people. However, if you can hear the voices which Jesus or God heard during the two thousand and the six thousand years, you should be grateful. If you shed tears before the people, and if your heart aches when you behold humanity, you should be grateful. If your eyes overflow with tears in looking at humanity and you are lost in thought as to how to solve humanity’s problems, you should be grateful. If you do not have enough to eat, and even when you do your throat is blocked by grief, you are truly blessed. Even when you have a difficult personal situation yet choose to remain quiet, you are truly blessed. Do you feel indignant that you cannot engage in a fierce battle with Satan even if you have hands that can take him on in a fight? Be grateful. Do you have a sorrowful heart which is patiently waiting for the one day, even if you can make brave steps forward before the expanding forces of Satan? Be grateful.

God is not found in a faraway place. When you think that God is far away, He is near you. When you feel that He is close to you, He is far away. For those who boasted that Heaven stood close to them, God was actually far away. Those who were sorry that they were far away from God did not know that God was standing next to them.

Do not grieve that your suffering is intensifying; do not mourn that you are faced with persecution. You should be able to say, “Please allow me to shoulder the sorrow that afflicts the Father’s heart. Please let me shoulder the anguish that pierces the Father’s heart. If I were ever to be falsely accused by Satan or be wronged by him, please allow me to take this by myself and pay indemnity for all the sorrows and pains of history.” If there are sons and daughters who can call out to the Father like this and struggle with all their strength and with tearful hearts, the Father will grab them. He will do so without fail.

We do not seek glory. If there is any glory, it belongs to the Father. Sorrow and pain are all that belong to us. We should prepare our minds to digest these sorrows and pains as sources of life. You should feel embarrassed and unworthy when God says, “My child” and embraces you. Then, on the day of judgment, the day that a proclamation will be made before the sad and painful history, God’s hands will seek you out even as you kneel down, unable to raise your head.

We should long for the Kingdom of Heaven while we are in a sad situation and living a painful life. We should comfort the sorrowful Lord in mournful history, comfort the Lord of suffering in painful history. If there is someone who praises God and comforts Him even as he himself suffers sorrow and pain, no one can defeat that person. This is our standard. This is the path that the members of the Unification movement should walk.

We do not need many people. We do not need great multitudes. We need people who can say, “Father, I am not the only one suffering. Humanity is suffering all over the world. How many countless people are more miserable than I,” even in grief and pain. We need people who can then strive to shoulder humanity’s grief as their own responsibility. This was the path Jesus walked.

Heaven has sought true sons and daughters. When you call out “Father” while you are holding the Father’s hands and say, “His hands are similar to mine,” or while you are looking at the Father you say, “His situation is similar to mine; His heartaches and worries are similar to what I suffered in the past,” your words will eliminate all the misfortunes of history and become the decisive condition for happiness. We the members of the Unification movement, Christians, and all faithful people in the world and in Heaven should understand this.

I do not know your circumstances or your states of mind, but if you feel something deep in your heart right now, that feeling is not false. If you feel, “That is true; that is how it should be,” then you should make a determination for your life based on that. You should fight based on that and fall down clinging to it. Those who do so will be qualified to become true sons and daughters of the Father who wants to embrace you in the day of judgment.

Examine Your Attitude Toward the Messiah

John 7

30 Some of the people wanted to arrest Jesus right then. But no one even laid a hand on him, because his time had not yet come. 31 A lot of people in the crowd put their faith in him and said, “When the Messiah comes, he surely won’t perform more miracles than this man has done!”

Joel 2

Sound the trumpet on Zion,
    the Lord’s sacred hill.
Warn everyone to tremble!
The judgment day of the Lord
    is coming soon.
It will be dark and gloomy
    with storm clouds overhead.
Troops will cover the mountains
    like thunderclouds.
No army this powerful
has ever been gathered before
    or will ever be again.

The Path of Faith Which Should be Examined Carefully

Sun Myung Moon
April 12, 1959

Matthew 11: 1-30

11 After Jesus had finished instructing his twelve disciples, he left and began teaching and preaching in the towns.

John was in prison when he heard what Christ was doing. So John sent some of his followers to ask Jesus, “Are you the one we should be looking for? Or must we wait for someone else?”

Jesus answered, “Go and tell John what you have heard and seen. The blind are now able to see, and the lame can walk. People with leprosy are being healed, and the deaf can hear. The dead are raised to life, and the poor are hearing the good news. God will bless everyone who doesn’t reject me because of what I do.”

As John’s followers were going away, Jesus spoke to the crowds about John:

What sort of person did you go out into the desert to see? Was he like tall grass blown about by the wind? What kind of man did you go out to see? Was he someone dressed in fine clothes? People who dress like that live in the king’s palace. What did you really go out to see? Was he a prophet? He certainly was. I tell you that he was more than a prophet. 10 In the Scriptures God says about him, “I am sending my messenger ahead of you to get things ready for you.” 11 I tell you that no one ever born on this earth is greater than John the Baptist. But whoever is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than John.

12 From the time of John the Baptist until now, violent people have been trying to take over the kingdom of heaven by force. 13 All the Books of the Prophets and the Law of Moses told what was going to happen up to the time of John. 14 And if you believe them, John is Elijah, the prophet you are waiting for. 15 If you have ears, pay attention!

16 You people are like children sitting in the market and shouting to each other,

17 “We played the flute,
    but you would not dance!
We sang a funeral song,
    but you would not mourn!”

18 John the Baptist did not go around eating and drinking, and you said, “That man has a demon in him!” 19 But the Son of Man goes around eating and drinking, and you say, “That man eats and drinks too much! He is even a friend of tax collectors and sinners.” Yet Wisdom is shown to be right by what it does.

20 In the towns where Jesus had worked most of his miracles, the people refused to turn to God. So Jesus was upset with them and said:

21 You people of Chorazin are in for trouble! You people of Bethsaida are in for trouble too! If the miracles that took place in your towns had happened in Tyre and Sidon, the people there would have turned to God long ago. They would have dressed in sackcloth and put ashes on their heads.[e] 22 I tell you that on the day of judgment the people of Tyre and Sidon will get off easier than you will.

23 People of Capernaum, do you think you will be honored in heaven? You will go down to hell! If the miracles that took place in your town had happened in Sodom, that town would still be standing. 24 So I tell you that on the day of judgment the people of Sodom will get off easier than you.

25 At that moment Jesus said:

My Father, Lord of heaven and earth, I am grateful that you hid all this from wise and educated people and showed it to ordinary people. 26 Yes, Father, that is what pleased you.

27 My Father has given me everything, and he is the only one who knows the Son. The only one who truly knows the Father is the Son. But the Son wants to tell others about the Father, so that they can know him too.

28 If you are tired from carrying heavy burdens, come to me and I will give you rest. 29 Take the yoke I give you. Put it on your shoulders and learn from me. I am gentle and humble, and you will find rest. 30 This yoke is easy to bear, and this burden is light.

Prayer

Although we are unworthy, we have missed Your holy image and have come back to You and prostrated our minds and bodies. Please accept us with the grace of sympathy. You have loved hundreds of thousands of times and have endured endlessly. Father, You who have never abandoned us and never ceased to guide us with love! Although we are not satisfactory for the will and Your standard, please treat us with a sympathetic heart. Since we still have a fervent desire to turn away from the troublesome world and go to Your world of Shim Jung, we eagerly hope and desire that upon seeing such a heart in us, You will give us sympathetic love; You will bear with us and come to us.

The place where we receive Your love is the place for which all creation longs, the place for which innumerable people yearned in the past, and the place that the people of the present and future should desire. Please guide us to think about this. Please guide us to feel at this time that the more we try to be embraced in Your loving heart, the more attention we will receive from all things. Father, we ardently hope and desire this.

Give us now the heart to call You “our Father” and to see that You have toiled for us and are in sorrow because of us. Allow us to appear as zealous sons and daughters who can be moved by such a heart and embrace You, calling You “Father.”

We know that the one who seeks You with an ardent heart and who worries about Your situation will not be forsaken by You. Please allow our hearts to run toward You and our bodies to rush into Your embrace. Father, we sincerely hope and desire that You fill our bodies and minds so that we can rise above the sinful history of anger, sorrow and lamentation. Spur us on in body and mind. Joel 3

1“In those days and at that time,

when I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem,

2I will gather all nations

and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat.a

There I will put them on trial

for what they did to my inheritance, my people Israel,

because they scattered my people among the nations

and divided up my land.

3They cast lots for my people

and traded boys for prostitutes;

they sold girls for wine to drink

5“If thieves came to you,

oh, what a disaster awaits you!—

would they not steal only as much as they wanted?

If grape pickers came to you,

would they not leave a few grapes?

6But how Esau will be ransacked,

7All your allies will force you to the border;

your friends will deceive and overpower you;

those who eat your bread will set a trap for you,b

Let Us Become the Citizens Who Take Possession of the Kingdom of Heaven

Rev. Sun Myung Moon

So, if we cannot find the Kingdom of Heaven, the foundation of victory where we can rest for eternity, then God and Jesus that we have been believing in, or the shepherd and angels who are following cannot escape from the suffering caused by Satan. You who are connected to heaven must understand what kind of person you were raised as and what kind of mission rests in you.

We have infinite Heavenly value that allows us to stand before God. Therefore, representing human beings and all things, you must develop the one victorious ideology of the heavenly kingdom. After inheriting the many internal agonies of God, who has been exerting himself for 6,000 years, and by inheriting the agony of Jesus and the Holy Spirit, you are to become the victor who can overcome all historical sufferings. God has been searching for this kind of victor for 6,000 years. Therefore, if you do not become this kind of victor, then you cannot materialize the ideology of the kingdom of heaven that God is trying to grant you.

If today on this land of deep resentment, someone can establish the ideology of the Heavenly Kingdom on behalf of Heaven, earth and human beings, then he will become a precious person who brings to fruition the entire purpose of the exertions of God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and the countless prophets and believers, and represent them. This precious person is indeed the one who can save countless ancestors who betrayed God, save from sin the countless humans who are living in the world of sin at the present, and at the same time build God’s eternal Kingdom of Heaven.

The Kingdom of God that human beings have been seeking by transcending history, the Kingdom of Heaven that God hoped to build by sending Jesus to this earth. Human beings of the future hope for the emergence of the one precious person who can fully manifest that kingdom on this earth, while God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and countless prophets and believers have been at strenuous work for the sake of the appearance of that valuable person. If that person does appear on this earth, then God will bear the responsibility to eternally protect that person. This is the principle. Centering on that person, eternal nation and world must be formed on this earth.

We pitiable Korean people, when we look back, our people do not possess anything. There is nothing of which to be proud. We do not have anything valuable of which we can boast to the world.

However, if we transcend the nation and the people and exert ourselves for the sake of the countless humanity, then the Kingdom of Heaven will not first be realized in America, England or some other nation, but, despite the fact that we are pitiful people, we can go before God and before anyone else. We can claim the Heavenly Kingdom as our own. When this takes place, then the many people who are searching for heaven will not be able to go toward God without going through this people.

Then, what kind of mission and role must we fulfill to bring to pass this Kingdom of Heaven? We must make the effort to realize through us the Kingdom of Heaven, for which throughout the long history until now, people have been crying out, “Kingdom of Heaven, please dawn upon us!” even when they were being trampled upon and being torn apart while passing through the road of conflict, the road of death.

If that Heaven is realized on the individual level, in other words, if the individual Kingdom of Heaven in which Father can dwell is actualized, then Heaven must be realized also on the family level. Furthermore, it must be expanded on the society, nation, world and universal levels. You must feel the sense of responsibility to accomplish this Kingdom of Heaven first.

Although many believers and prophets have come and gone in the history until today, God has not been able to fully reveal his internal situation to human beings through them. However, if there emerges a person who can fully divulge the internal situation of God and possess the key to the treasure chest inside the heavenly palace in the dead center of the Kingdom of Heaven, then because of him, God cannot but dwell on this earth.

Richard:  Christ is the one who comes to build the Kingdom.  This was Jesus and is the person of Rev. Sun Myung Moon.
