The Whole World Was Created Only for the Sake of the Righteous Man

2 Thessolonians 2

When our Lord Jesus returns, we will be gathered up to meet him. So I ask you, my friends, not to be easily upset or disturbed by people who claim that the Lord[a] has already come. They may say that they heard this directly from the Holy Spirit, or from someone else, or even that they read it in one of our letters. But don’t be fooled! People will rebel against God. Then before the Lord returns, the wicked one who is doomed to be destroyed will appear. He will brag and oppose everything that is holy or sacred. He will even sit in God’s temple and claim to be God. Don’t you remember that I told you this while I was still with you?

Richard: Right now, Bill Gates and his minions plus others of the same mindset are proclaming that they will play God through their technological fixes. However, with the whole COVID-19 fraud, they have way overstepped their rightful bounds, and God’s Kingdom is here and is expanding. Jonah 1

13 The sailors tried their best to row to the shore. But they could not do it, and the storm kept getting worse every minute. 14 So they prayed to the Lord, “Please don’t let us drown for taking this man’s life. Don’t hold us guilty for killing an innocent man. All of this happened because you wanted it to.” 15 Then they threw Jonah overboard, and the sea calmed down. 16 The sailors were so terrified that they offered a sacrifice to the Lord and made all kinds of promises.

17 The Lord sent a big fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was inside the fish for three days and three nights.

Richard: We have to remember our covenant and promises to God. Also, here and later in the book of Jonah, Jonah does not want to obey God and preach God’s message to the people so they can be saved. Interestingly, the people of Ninevah actually repent, and Jonah is angry that the Lord God did not destroy them, as He originally indicated He would.
We should offer help to God’s children. They may receive our message or not, but we have no right to be angry with God, regardless.

God’s Creation and Human Creativity

The Lord of Creation

3. Human Beings Are Worthy to Receive Honor from All Creatures, for They Lead All Creatures to Completion

The whole world was created only for the sake
of the righteous man. He weighs as much as the
whole world. The whole world was created only
to be united to him.
Talmud, Shabbat 30b (Judaism)

His movement is of Heaven, his stillness of
Earth. With his single mind in repose, he is
king of the world; the spirits do not afflict him;
his soul knows no weariness. His single mind
reposed, the ten thousand things submit—
which is to say that his emptiness and stillness
reach throughout Heaven and Earth and pen-
etrate the ten thousand things. This is what is
called Heavenly joy. Heavenly joy is the mind of
the sage by which he shepherds the world.
Chuang Tzu 13 (Taoism)

Elijah… went and dwelt by the brook Cherith
that is east of the Jordan. And the ravens brought
him bread and meat in the morning, and bread
and meat in the evening; and he drank from the
brook.
1 Kings 17.5-6

Thus I have heard, on a certain occasion the
Exalted One was staying near Uruvela, on the
bank of the river Neranjara, at the root of the
mucalinda tree, having just won the highest
wisdom. Now on that occasion the Exalted One
was seated for seven days in one posture and
experienced the bliss of release. Then arose a
great storm of rain out of due season, and for
seven days there was rainy weather, cold winds,
and overcast skies. So Mucalinda, King of the
snakes, coming forth from his haunt, encircled
the body of the Exalted One seven times with
his coils and stood rearing his great hood above
the Exalted One’s head, thinking, “Let not heat
or cold or the touch of flies, mosquitoes, wind,
or creeping things annoy the Exalted One.”
Now after the lapse of those seven days
the Exalted One roused himself from that
concentration of mind. Then Mucalinda, King
of the snakes, seeing that the sky was clear and
free of clouds, unwrapped his folds from the
Exalted One’s body, and, withdrawing his own
form and creating the form of a youth, stood
before the Exalted One, holding up his clasped
hands and doing reverence to him.
Udana 10 (Buddhism)

The earth’s condition is receptive devotion.
Thus the superior man who has breadth of
character
Carries the outer world.
I Ching 2 (Confucianism)

Only those who are absolutely sincere can fully
develop their nature. If they can fully develop
their nature, they can then fully develop the
nature of others. If they can fully develop the
nature of others, they can then fully develop the
nature of things. If they can fully develop the
nature of things, they can then assist in the trans-
forming and nourishing process of Heaven and
Earth. If they can assist in the transforming and
nourishing process of Heaven and Earth, they
can thus form with Heaven and Earth a trinity.
Doctrine of the Mean 22 (Confucianism)

“The flowers appear on the earth, the time of
song has come, and the voice of the turtledove
is heard in our land” (Song of Songs 2.12):
When God created the world, He endowed
the earth with all the energy requisite for it,
but it did not bring forth produce until man
appeared. When, however, man was created,
all the products that were latent in the earth
ppeared above ground. Similarly, the heavens
did not impart strength to the earth until man
came. So it is written, “All the plants of the earth
were not yet on the earth, and the herbs of the
field had not yet sprung up, for the l ord God
had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and
there was not a man to till the ground.” (Gen.
2.5)… When, however, man appeared, forthwith
“all the flowers appeared on the earth,” all its
latent powers being revealed; “the time of song
has come,” the earth being now ripe to offer
praises to the Almighty, which it could not do
before man was created. “And the voice of the
turtledove is heard in our land”: this is the word
of God, which was not in the world until man
was created.
Zohar, Genesis 97a (Judaism)

We Have the Unique Capacity to Know God and Love God

Leviticus 14

The Lord told Moses and Aaron to say to the people:

34 After I have given you the land of Canaan as your permanent possession, here is what you must do, if I ever put mildew[g] on the walls of any of your homes. 35 First, you must say to a priest, “I think mildew is on the wall of my house.”

36 The priest will reply, “Empty the house before I inspect it, or else everything in it will be unclean.”

37 If the priest discovers greenish or reddish spots that go deeper than the surface of the walls, 38 he will have the house closed for seven days. 39 Then he will return and check to see if the mildew has spread. 40-41 If so, he will have someone scrape the plaster from the walls, remove the filthy stones, then haul everything off and dump it in an unclean place outside the town. 42 Afterwards the wall must be repaired with new stones and fresh plaster.

43 If the mildew appears a second time, 44 the priest will come and say, “This house is unclean. It’s covered with mildew that can’t be removed.” 45 Then he will have the house torn down and every bit of wood, stone, and plaster hauled off to an unclean place outside the town. 46 Meanwhile, if any of you entered the house while it was closed, you will be unclean until evening. 47 And if you either slept or ate in the house, you must wash your clothes.

Richard: In our lives, we can evaluation what is ‘clean’ and ‘unclean’. We must get rid of that which is ‘unclean’. Our lives and possessions should be kept in good order.

Matthew 1

Jesus Christ came from the family of King David and also from the family of Abraham. And this is a list of his ancestors. 2-6a  From Abraham to King David, his ancestors were:

6b-11  From David to the time of the exile in Babylonia, the ancestors of Jesus were:

David, Solomon (his mother had been Uriah’s wife), Rehoboam, Abijah, Asa, Jehoshaphat, Jehoram;

Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, Hezekiah, Manasseh, Amon, Josiah, and Jehoiachin and his brothers.

12-16 From the exile to the birth of Jesus, his ancestors were:

God’s Creation and Human Creativity

The Lord of Creation

2.Human Beings Are Superior to All Other Creatures

Verily We have honored the children of Adam.
We carry them on the land and the sea, and
have made provision of good things for them,
and have preferred them above many of those
We created with a marked preferment.
Qur’an 17.20

What a piece of work is a man! How noble in
reason! How infinite in faculties! In form and
moving how express and admirable! In action
how like an angel! In apprehension how like a
god! The beauty of the world, the paragon of
animals.
William Shakespeare, Hamlet, Act II. Scene ii

Having created the world and all that lives and
moves therein, He, through the direct operation
of His unconstrained and sovereign Will, chose
to confer upon man the unique distinction and
capacity to know Him and to love Him… Upon
the inmost reality of each and every created
thing He has shed the light of one of His names,
and made it a recipient of the glory of one of His
attributes. Upon the reality of man, however, He
has focused the radiance of all of His names and
attributes, and made it a mirror of His own Self.
Alone of all created things man has been singled
out for so great a favor, so enduring a bounty.
Gleanings from the Writings of Baha’u’llah 27
(Baha’i Faith)

Man, as the manifestation of God, is the leader
of all things, and no creature is more honorable
than man. All things upon the earth, following
their own individual names, fashioning their
true way, will know that Thou hast brought
them to sight for man’s sake. All things what-
soever, forgetting not their source, deviating
not from their determined pattern, are made to
work as well as to understand their part; hum-
bling themselves and honoring man, without
anger, without haste, without anxiety, without
grief, neither linked nor parted, they are made
to work out their true personality.
The Ritual Prayer (Perfect Liberty Kyodan)

The human body is a revelation of the goodness
of God and the providence of the body’s Creator.
It is a body obviously meant to minister to a
rational soul, as you can see from the arrange-
ment of the human organs of sense and of man’s
other members. This is obvious, too, in man’s spe-
cific appearance, form, and stature. The bodies
of irrational animals are bent toward the ground,
whereas man was made to walk erect with his
eyes on heaven, as though to remind him to keep
his thoughts on things above.
Saint Augustine, City of God 22.24 (Christianity)

Man was equipped with [three] souls… By virtue
of the animal soul he shares with the animals; his
physical soul links him with the plants; his human
soul is a bond between him and the angels…
The function of the human, rational soul
is the noblest function of all, for it is itself the
noblest of spirits. Its function consists of reflecting
upon things of art and meditating upon the
things of beauty: its gaze being turned towards
the higher world, its loves not this lower abode
and meaner station. Belonging as it does to the
higher side of life and to primal substances, it is
not its business to eat and drink, neither does it
require luxury and coition; rather its function is
to wait for the revelation of truths.
Avicenna (Ibn Sina), Katib al-Najat (Islam)

We did indeed offer the Trust to the heavens and
the earth and the mountains; but they refused to
undertake it, being afraid of it. But man under-
took it; he was indeed unjust and foolish. 11

Galatians 6

6 My friends, you are spiritual. So if someone is trapped in sin, you should gently lead that person back to the right path. But watch out, and don’t be tempted yourself. You obey the law of Christ when you offer each other a helping hand.

If you think you are better than others, when you really aren’t, you are wrong. Do your own work well, and then you will have something to be proud of. But don’t compare yourself with others. We each must carry our own load.

2 Samuel 9

Mephibosheth knelt down again and said, “Why should you care about me? I’m worth no more than a dead dog.”

David called in Ziba, Saul’s chief servant, and told him, “Since Mephibosheth is Saul’s grandson, I’ve given him back everything that belonged to your master Saul and his family. 10 You and your fifteen sons and twenty servants will work for Mephibosheth. You will farm his land and bring in his crops, so that Saul’s family and servants[b] will have food. But Mephibosheth will always eat with me at my table.”

Chapter 4

God’s Creation and Human Creativity

The Lord of Creation

Although human beings are but a part of the natural worLd,we occupy a unique position as lords of creation. in the bible, adam and eve were granted the blessing of dominion over all things, and the qur’an accords to each human being the status of God’s “vicegerent.” this means also that God created the natural world for our benefit, as nature provides us with everything we need to live and thrive. nevertheless, the blessing of dominion is not divine permission to pollute the earth and create artificial environments at nature’s expense. in the agricultural societies where this mandate was first given, human creativity was seen as essentially in harmony with nature’s ebb and flow. We are truly lords of creation when we practice love for all things and use our creativity to enhance nature’s abundance even as we adapt it to our use.
The basis of humankind’s sovereignty over nature is not a matter of size or strength. on that scale of things we are but infinitesimal specks on a planet that is itself but a speck in the infinite reaches of the universe. rather, it is due to our unique spiritual endowment. humans seek after God; they seek to better themselves and aspire to a better world. this makes us different in kind from animals. in our awareness of and intimacy with the creator of the universe, we humans are potentially more valuable than the entire world of creation.
Do we deserve this honor? as Father Moon teaches, since we receive the creator’s abundant love, we should, in turn, love the creation on God’s behalf. then we become the bridge between God and the natural world. God loves his creatures through us, and through us the entire natural world is perfected

1. Human Beings Are Given Dominion over All Things

I will create a vicegerent on earth.
Qur’an 2.30

And God blessed them, and God said to them,
“Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and
subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of
the sea and over the birds of the air and over
every living thing that moves upon the earth.”
Genesis 1.28

Do you not see that God has subjected to your
use all things in the heavens and on earth, and
has made His bounties flow to you in exceeding
measure, both seen and unseen?
Qur’an 31.20

When I look at thy heavens, the work of thy
fingers,
the moon and the stars which thou hast
established;
What is man that Thou art mindful of him,
and the son of man that thou dost care for
him?
Yet thou hast made him little less than God,
and dost crown him with glory and honor.
Psalm 8.3-5

God is He who created the heavens and the
earth, and sends down rain from the skies, and
with it brings forth fruits to feed you; it is He
who made the ships subject to you, that they
may sail through the sea by His command; and
the rivers He has made subject to you. And He
made subject to you the sun and the moon,
both diligently pursuing their courses; and the
night and the day He has made subject to you.
And He gives you of all that you ask for. But if
you count the favors of God, never will you be
able to number them. Verily, man is given up to
injustice and ingratitude.
Qur’an 14.32-34

Out of the ground the L ord God formed every
beast of the field and every bird of the air, and
brought them to the man to see what he would
call them; and whatever the man called every
living creature, that was its name.

Luke 11

39 So the Lord said to him:

You Pharisees clean the outside of cups and dishes, but on the inside you are greedy and evil. 40 You fools! Didn’t God make both the outside and the inside?[g] 41 If you would only give what you have to the poor, everything you do would please God.

42 You Pharisees are in for trouble! You give God a tenth of the spices from your gardens, such as mint and rue. But you cheat people, and you don’t love God. You should be fair and kind to others and still give a tenth to God.

43 You Pharisees are in for trouble! You love the front seats in the meeting places, and you like to be greeted with honor in the market. 44 But you are in for trouble! You are like unmarked graves[h] that people walk on without even knowing it.

Ecclesiastes 11

No one can explain how a baby breathes before it is born.[b] So how can anyone explain what God does? After all, he created everything.

Chapter 4

God’s Creation and Human Creativity

Microcosm and Macrocosm

A human being is a of the universe, encapsulating in him or herself the essences of all things. conversely, the entire universe resembles a human being in macrocosm. the world’s scriptures express this insight in both mythological and philosophical language.
As a microcosm, linked to all space and time, a human being has the foundation to know, use, and enjoy all things. of all creatures, humans have the widest scope of thought and action, encompassing all things, knowing and appreciating all things, guiding and prospering all things, and transcending all things. nevertheless, as Father Moon teaches, being a microcosm also brings with it the responsibility to love the universe and uphold the universe.

What is the source of the correspondence between macrocosm and microcosm? the Upanishads and other mystical texts describe a primordial person—Purusha, Metatron—a cosmic Man which pre-existed the creation and gave it shape. Father Moon speaks of a pre-existing human “prototype” in the mind of God. From that starting point, it was inevitable that all the elements of nature would recombine in human beings, when they arose. he goes on to describe the spirit world as shaped like a gigantic person.

All that the Holy One created in the world He
created in man.
Talmud, Abot de Rabbi Nathan 31 (Judaism)

The whole of existence arises in me,
In me arises the threefold world,
By me pervaded is this all,
Of naught else does this world consist.
Hevajra Tantra 8.41 (Buddhism)

The human form is built into the world struc-
ture; indeed, even the cosmos.
Hildegard of Bingen, Scivias (Christianity)

One who knows the inner self knows the exter-
nal world as well. One who knows the external
world knows the inner self as well.
Acarangasutra 1.147 (Jainism)

Man is the product of the attributes of Heaven
and Earth, by the interaction of the dual forces
of nature, the union of the animal and intelli-
gent souls, and the finest subtle matter of the
five elements…
The five elements in their movements
alternately displace and exhaust one another.
Each one of them, in the revolving course of the
twelve months of the four seasons, comes to be
in its turn the fundamental one for the time.
The five notes of harmony, with their
six upper musical accords and twelve pitch-
tubes, come each, in their revolutions among
themselves, to be the first note of the scale.
The five flavors, with the six condiments
and twelve articles of diet, come each one, in
their revolutions in the course of the year, to
give its character to the food.
The five colors, with the six elegant figures
which they form on the two robes, come each
one, in their revolutions among themselves, to
give the character of the dress that is worn.
Therefore Man is the heart and mind of
Heaven and Earth, and the visible embodiment
of the five elements. He lives in the enjoyment
of all flavors, the discriminating of all notes of
harmony, and the enrobing of all colors.
Book of Ritual 7.3.1-7 (Confucianism)

Consider a man’s body: his head rises up and is
round and resembles the shape of heaven. His
hair resembles the stars and constellations. His
ears and eyes, quick in their senses, resemble the
sun and the moon. The breathing of his nostrils
and mouth resembles the wind. The penetrating
knowledge of his mind resembles the spiritual
intelligence [of Heaven].
Tung Chung-Shu, Luxuriant Gems of the
Spring and Autumn Annals 56 (Confucianism)

In the beginning the Self alone was here—no
other thing that blinks the eye at all. He thought,
“What if I were to emanate worlds?”
He emanated these worlds, water, rays
of light, death, the waters. Water is up there
beyond the sky; the sky supports it. The rays of
light are the atmosphere; death the earth; what
is underneath, the waters.
He thought again, “Here now are these
worlds. What if I were to emanate guardians?”
He raised a Man (Purusha) up from the water
and gave him a form. 7
He brooded over him; when He had finished
brooding over him, a mouth broke open on him
the likeness of an egg. From the mouth came
speech and from speech Fire.
Nostrils broke open, from the nostrils came
breath, from breath the Wind.
Eyes broke open, from the eyes came sight,
from sight the Sun.
Ears broke open, from the ears came hearing,
from hearing the Points of the Compass.
Skin broke out, from skin grew hairs, from
the hairs plants and trees.
A heart broke out, from the heart came
mind, from the mind the Moon.
A navel broke open, from the navel came
the out-breath, from the out-breath Death.
A phallus broke forth, from the phallus
came semen, from semen Water…
Those deities [the macrocosmic beings],
Fire and the rest, after they had been sent forth,
fell into the great ocean. Besieged with hunger
and thirst, they begged, “Allow us a place in
which we may rest and take food.”
He led a cow towards them. They said,
“This is not enough.” He led a horse towards
them. They said, “This is not enough.” He led
man towards them. Then they said, “Well done,
indeed.” Therefore man is well done. He said
to them, “Enter the man, each according to his
place.”

Then Fire, having become speech, entered
the mouth; the Wind, having become breath,
entered the nostrils; the Sun, having become
sight, entered the eyes; the regions, having
become hearing, entered the ears; the plants
and trees, having become hairs, entered the
skin; the Moon, having become mind, entered
the heart; Death, having become out-breathing,
entered the navel; Water, having become semen,
entered the phallus…

The Self considered, “How could these
guardians exist without Me?… If, without Me,
speech is uttered, breath is drawn, eye sees,
ear hears, skin feels, mind thinks, sex organs
procreate, then what am I?” Whereupon,
opening the center of the skull, He entered. The
door by which He entered is called the door of
bliss. 8

Nature Has Much to Teach Us

I Corinthians 12

12 My friends, you asked me about spiritual gifts. I want you to remember that before you became followers of the Lord, you were led in all the wrong ways by idols that cannot even talk. Now I want you to know that if you are led by God’s Spirit, you will say that Jesus is Lord, and you will never curse Jesus.

Daniel 5

All of King Belshazzar’s highest officials came in, but not one of them could read the writing or tell what it meant, and they were completely puzzled. Now the king was more afraid than ever before, and his face turned white as a ghost.

God’s Creation and Human Creativity

Nature as Teacher

Nature has much to teach us. From ants industriously storing food to birds sweetly calling for their mates, observing the ways of nature’s creatures provides lessons about the basic morality of life. cultivating the earth and caring for animals teaches about patience, sacrifice, and God’s dependable grace when the harvest yields its abundance. Father Moon teaches that through plants and animals God provided even the earliest humans with sufficient instruction to live a life of love and value.

But ask the beasts, and they will teach you;
the birds of the air, and they will tell you;
or the plants of the earth, and they will teach
you;
and the fish of the sea will declare to you.
Who among all these does not know
that the hand of the l ord has done this?
Job 12.7-9

After the sacred volumes of God and the

volume of the works and the creatures of God.
Francis Bacon 5

Have you considered the soil you till?
Do you yourselves sow it, or are We the
Sowers?
Did We will, We would make it broken orts,
and you will remain bitterly jesting—
“We are debt-loaded; nay, we have been
robbed.”
Have you considered the water you drink?
Did you send it down from the clouds, or did
We send it?
Did We will, We would make it bitter; so why
are you not thankful?
Have you considered the fire you kindle?
Did you make its timber to grow, or did We
make it?
We ourselves made it for a reminder,
and a boon to the desert-dwellers.
Qur’an 56.63-73

Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat
falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone;
but if it dies, it bears much fruit.
John 12.24

Let us know, let us press on to know the Lord ;
his going forth is sure as the dawn;
he will come to us as the showers,
as the spring rains that water the earth.
Hosea 6.3
