First we need structure, then unity,
and lastly we need action. These are the
three elements needed to move the world
centering on Korea. By standing with-
in a thoroughly organized realm, you
must connect 100 percent to all direc-
tions. Furthermore, you should estab-
lish this standard, leading the way, in
order to fulfill you central mission. You
must determine your position within
the organized realm. If you don’t have
a position, then there is nowhere for you
to sit down. You can push ahead only
after your position has been decided.
You will be able to see how your posi-
tion is developing based on your effort.
Deciding the position is an important
part of strengthening the power of the
organization. (15-191, 1965.10.9)

Jeremiah 24

Then the Lord told me to say:

People of Judah, the good figs stand for those of you I sent away as exiles to Babylonia, where I am watching over them. Then someday I will bring them back to this land. I will plant them, instead of uprooting them, and I will build them up, rather than tearing them down. I will give them a desire to know me and to be my people. They will want me to be their God, and they will turn back to me with all their heart.

You who have gathered here! Have you become such that your every cell can reach harmony with God? Only when your mind and your very cells can become one with God will God come seeking you, as Jesus searched for the apostles after the resurrection. These apostles must gather to search for the humanity of the world. Up to now, apostles have made heroic determinations based on the conviction that Jesus came to die. Therefore, you who understand that Jesus did not come to die must make an even more heroic determination. Continue reading “Be Jesus’ Brother”

A wife who sacrifices her life for her
husband is called a virtuous woman.
A filial child sacrifices his life for his
parents. A patriot sacrifices his life for
his country. However, from the heaven-
ly standard, loyalty and filial piety are
fulfilled when you offer your eternal
life. Our bodies die, but the standard
of a heavenly virtuous woman is only
established when she offers her eternal
life to God, to her husband, and to her
parents. You have to devote your entire
lives to God.
That is why the Bible teaches us to
love God with all our heart, with all our
soul and with all our mind. So what is
the standard of “all”? You have to be
better than all other patriots, all oth-
er filial children, and all other virtuous
women in the world. If not, then God’s
dignity cannot be established. Even in
the satanic world, there have been many
patriots and virtuous women until now.
Yet God’s dignity cannot be established
if the standard for being a patriot and
a virtuous woman is the same as in the
satanic world. (9-108, 1960.4.24)

What began with Jacob, the pioneer
of the victorious realm of Israel, and con-
tinued through the history of Christian
culture, created a foundation that took
4,000 years to build; yet it ended in fail-
ure. As I had to restore this all within my
lifetime, and since I could not spend 400
years on it I had to reverse and restore
everything through indemnity within
40 years, no matter how much humilia-
tion I had to endure. That was the forty-
year wilderness course. (149-59, 1986.11.2)

What then must you do? You must at least possess the apologetic and awe-stricken heart of Peter after the resurrection of Jesus. You must try to take after the heart of Mary Magdalene, who was groping and struggling to find him. However, until the moment Jesus shouldered the cross, he did not have even one such friend or comrade. Continue reading “The Piercing, Agonizing Heart of Jesus”

Women get married and are tradition-
ally expected to wholeheartedly love and
serve their husbands. By receiving love
from their spouses, and giving birth to
children, women may shine and blos-
som through this dynamic relationship.
As mothers, women have the important
responsibility of nourishing their chil-
dren, bringing them up and educating
them. Likewise, we can say that island
nations also have similar roles to play.

CSG 1474

How great is the value of human-
kind? They are the only beings that God
would long for over tens of thousands
of years, leaning on his walking stick.
According to my observations, this fact
happens to be the basis for the creation
of the universe. Since God and human
beings related to each other as inter-
nal and external, vertical and horizon-
tal perspectives about the world of love
could be established. Both vertical and
horizontal views on the world of love can
come into existence once upper-lower
and left-right relationships are formed.
God can come to reside in the center
of them all. That place, which can bind
them all into one at the deepest core of
the heart, is the central place of the verti-
cal and horizontal. If they are not bound
into one, the standard of the vertical and
horizontal cannot develop into the ideal
form of love. The existence of the vertical
form alone does not guarantee the exis-
tence of the horizontal form. Therefore,
you should understand that God had no
other choice but to create human beings
in this form. (48-224, 1971.9.19)

Let Us Become Someone Who Can Hold Jesus’ Body and Mourn

Rev. Sun Myung Moon

This is how the human mind is. Today people are infinitely swayed and confused by the sinful world in which they live. However, by becoming one with the foundation of history and the foundation of the future in your hearts, you must establish the one principle that will never change. Moreover, when your internal standard and the standard of life confront some unfortunate reality, you must be able to overcome it and move forward. By doing so, you must become one with the heavenly works, one with the practical providential will and the providential plan for the future. Moreover, only when you can become a person who is qualified to cope with everything, centering on this, can you finally understand the heart of God. The Divine Principle explanation
set forth by the Unification Church,
that God is the Subject who has harmo-
nized dual characteristics, runs along
the same lines as the undeniable truth
drawn from results of scientific analysis.
When subject and object partners are
completely united, God’s power will be
with them eternally. Power cannot exist
where there is no subject or object. Then
how does God exist? He can exist eter-
nally because within Him is the power
that comes from a perpetual giving and
receiving relationship between subject
and object partners. (39-166, 1971.1.10)

What are we to do, living in a divided
nation, with North and South bordering
each other along the thirty-eighth paral-
lel? The question is how will we go about
resolving this issue? That is, we must
suffer more than both the North and
South Korean people. Through hard-
ships, our patriotism will be solidified
to encompass the nation and become
the shortcut to save Korea. This is the
solution. It is the same for the unifica-
tion of the world of evil and the world of
good. Loyal patriots who are more faith-
ful than the loyal patriots of the world
of evil must emerge. This broken history
can be restored with the appearance of a
person who can demonstrate a stronger
allegiance to the world than that held by
our loyal ancestors. That’s how I see it.

Let Us Become Someone Who Can Hold Jesus’ Body and Mourn

Rev. Sun Myung Moon
April 13, 1958

What kind of person was Jesus? When we behold him, his were the eyes that observed the sung sang of God, who had passed through 4,000 years of history since the creation. His eyes watched over the many spirits who were in hell because of the mistakes of humankind. His were the eyes that looked with a sense of responsibility to alleviate the bitter grief of the spirits in heaven. Moreover, when Jesus was looking at the land on behalf of God’s sorrow, when he saw how the chosen Israelites and all humanity opposed him, Jesus’ gaze represented the sorrow of God, who had been mourning for 4,000 years since the fall of Adam and Eve. The seventh verse says, “Our Fam-
ily Pledges to perfect a world based on
the culture of heart, which is rooted in
the original lineage, through living for
the sake of others, by centering on true
love.” You must be rooted in the origi-
nal lineage. You must perfect a world
based on the culture of heart rooted in
the original lineage. Nothing can stop
you from doing anything once you have
reached there. You are free even in hell
as well as in heaven. The Family Pledge
not only covers the general outline of
the providence, but includes the pref-

is the encapsulation of the entire Princi-

What kind of couple are the ideal
husband and wife we speak about in the
Unification Church. They are a married
couple who can turn the highest art into
reality. They are a couple who can turn
the highest literature into reality. Before
we come into contact with the highest
level of art in the world, the highest and
sweetest love shared by the husband and
wife has to be the best work of art in the
world. It has to be the best work of lit-
erature and the real body of literature.

Let Us Become Someone Who Can Hold Jesus’ Body and Mourn

Rev. Sun Myung Moon
April 13, 1958

Matthew 27: 1-56

27 Early the next morning all the chief priests and the nation’s leaders met and decided that Jesus should be put to death. They tied him up and led him away to Pilate the governor.

Judas had betrayed Jesus, but when he learned that Jesus had been sentenced to death, he was sorry for what he had done. He returned the thirty silver coins to the chief priests and leaders and said, “I have sinned by betraying a man who has never done anything wrong.”

“So what? That’s your problem,” they replied. Judas threw the money into the temple and then went out and hanged himself.

The chief priests picked up the money and said, “This money was paid to have a man killed. We can’t put it in the temple treasury.” Then they had a meeting and decided to buy a field that belonged to someone who made clay pots. They wanted to use it as a graveyard for foreigners. That’s why people still call that place “Field of Blood.” So the words of the prophet Jeremiah came true,

“They took
    the thirty silver coins,
the price of a person
    among the people of Israel.
10 They paid it
    for a potter’s field,[a]
as the Lord
    had commanded me.”

11 Jesus was brought before Pilate the governor, who asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews?”

“Those are your words!” Jesus answered. 12 And when the chief priests and leaders brought their charges against him, he did not say a thing.

13 Pilate asked him, “Don’t you hear what crimes they say you have done?” 14 But Jesus did not say anything, and the governor was greatly amazed.

15 During Passover the governor always freed a prisoner chosen by the people. 16 At that time a well-known terrorist named Jesus Barabbas[b]was in jail. 17 So when the crowd came together, Pilate asked them, “Which prisoner do you want me to set free? Do you want Jesus Barabbas or Jesus who is called the Messiah?” 18 Pilate knew that the leaders had brought Jesus to him because they were jealous.

19 While Pilate was judging the case, his wife sent him a message. It said, “Don’t have anything to do with that innocent man. I have had nightmares because of him.”

20 But the chief priests and the leaders convinced the crowds to ask for Barabbas to be set free and for Jesus to be killed. 21 Pilate asked the crowd again, “Which of these two men do you want me to set free?”

“Barabbas!” they replied.

22 Pilate asked them, “What am I to do with Jesus, who is called the Messiah?”

They all yelled, “Nail him to a cross!”

23 Pilate answered, “But what crime has he done?”

“Nail him to a cross!” they yelled even louder.

24 Pilate saw that there was nothing he could do and that the people were starting to riot. So he took some water and washed his hands[c] in front of them and said, “I won’t have anything to do with killing this man. You are the ones doing it!”

25 Everyone answered, “We and our own families will take the blame for his death!”

26 Pilate set Barabbas free. Then he ordered his soldiers to beat Jesus with a whip and nail him to a cross.

27 The governor’s soldiers led Jesus into the fortress[d] and brought together the rest of the troops. 28 They stripped off Jesus’ clothes and put a scarlet robe[e] on him. 29 They made a crown out of thorn branches and placed it on his head, and they put a stick in his right hand. The soldiers knelt down and pretended to worship him. They made fun of him and shouted, “Hey, you king of the Jews!” 30 Then they spit on him. They took the stick from him and beat him on the head with it.

31 When the soldiers had finished making fun of Jesus, they took off the robe. They put his own clothes back on him and led him off to be nailed to a cross. 32 On the way they met a man from Cyrene named Simon, and they forced him to carry Jesus’ cross.

33 They came to a place named Golgotha, which means “Place of a Skull.”[f] 34 There they gave Jesus some wine mixed with a drug to ease the pain. But when Jesus tasted what it was, he refused to drink it.

35 The soldiers nailed Jesus to a cross and gambled to see who would get his clothes. 36 Then they sat down to guard him. 37 Above his head they put a sign that told why he was nailed there. It read, “This is Jesus, the King of the Jews.” 38 The soldiers also nailed two criminals on crosses, one to the right of Jesus and the other to his left.

39 People who passed by said terrible things about Jesus. They shook their heads and 40 shouted, “So you’re the one who claimed you could tear down the temple and build it again in three days! If you are God’s Son, save yourself and come down from the cross!”

41 The chief priests, the leaders, and the teachers of the Law of Moses also made fun of Jesus. They said, 42 “He saved others, but he can’t save himself. If he is the king of Israel, he should come down from the cross! Then we will believe him. 43 He trusted God, so let God save him, if he wants to. He even said he was God’s Son.” 44 The two criminals also said cruel things to Jesus.

45 At noon the sky turned dark and stayed that way until three o’clock. 46 Then about that time Jesus shouted, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?”[g]which means, “My God, my God, why have you deserted me?”

47 Some of the people standing there heard Jesus and said, “He’s calling for Elijah.”[h] 48 One of them at once ran and grabbed a sponge. He soaked it in wine, then put it on a stick and held it up to Jesus.

49 Others said, “Wait! Let’s see if Elijah will come[i] and save him.” 50 Once again Jesus shouted, and then he died.

51 At once the curtain in the temple[j] was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, and rocks split apart. 52 Graves opened, and many of God’s people were raised to life. 53 Then after Jesus had risen to life, they came out of their graves and went into the holy city, where they were seen by many people.

54 The officer and the soldiers guarding Jesus felt the earthquake and saw everything else that happened. They were frightened and said, “This man really was God’s Son!”

55 Many women had come with Jesus from Galilee to be of help to him, and they were there, looking on at a distance. 56 Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of James and John[k]were some of these women.

The title of the sermon I am going to give is, “Let Us Become Someone Who Can Hold Jesus’ Body and Mourn.” You must feel once again that Jesus, in whom you believe, was sent as the great prophet of the heavenly principles, with the mission from Heaven to restore all things. He is the center of hope for which all things, human beings and Heaven have longed.
