God would not be the Absolute Being
if He had created people to live for just
a few days and perish. He created them
as precious beings that He wants to keep
seeing and cherish eternally.
We know that we are the object part-
ners God can derive joy from. As He is
eternal, we must also be eternal. The eter-
nal God relates with an eternal world.
However, there are many people
who have lived thinking, “I’ve lived up
to eighty. That will do, and when I die,
that’s the end of it.” Yet in the course of
history, there were people who pondered
the question of immortality. They won-
dered if there was any way to live eternally
without dying. The more people held on
to this ideal, the more they thought and
asked themselves, “What’s the meaning
of life? Why are people born and then go
away like travelers?” and they conclud-
ed, “Life is suffering. It is like the com-
ing and going of grass.” Yet, if they could
live forever, there would be no need for
such worries. (39-228, 1971.1.15)

The way of restoration requires you
to cut your way through in the direction
opposite to that of the Fall. Walking the
way of indemnity is a basic principle for
fallen people. Unless you surmount this
path, you cannot restore your original
status. You must clean up yourselves.
You must possess a sound theoretical
system explaining how to restore the
individual, the family, the tribe, the eth-
nic people, the nation, and the world.

What Belongs to the Father Belongs to Me

Rev. Sun Myung Moon
August 30, 1959

John 14:11

11 Have faith in me when I say that the Father is one with me and that I am one with the Father. Or else have faith in me simply because of the things I do.

1 Corinthians 13: 1-13

13 What if I could speak
all languages
of humans
    and of angels?
If I did not love others,
    I would be nothing more
than a noisy gong
    or a clanging cymbal.
What if I could prophesy
and understand all secrets
    and all knowledge?
And what if I had faith
    that moved mountains?
I would be nothing,
    unless I loved others.
What if I gave away all
    that I owned
and let myself
    be burned alive?[a]
I would gain nothing,
    unless I loved others.
Love is kind and patient,
never jealous, boastful,
    proud, or rude.
Love isn’t selfish
    or quick tempered.
It doesn’t keep a record
    of wrongs that others do.
Love rejoices in the truth,
    but not in evil.
Love is always supportive,
loyal, hopeful,
    and trusting.
Love never fails!

Everyone who prophesies
    will stop,
and unknown languages
will no longer
    be spoken.
All that we know
    will be forgotten.
We don’t know everything,
and our prophecies
    are not complete.
10 But what is perfect
    will someday appear,
and what isn’t perfect
    will then disappear.

11 When we were children,
we thought and reasoned
    as children do.
But when we grew up,
    we quit our childish ways.
12 Now all we can see of God
is like a cloudy picture
    in a mirror.
Later we will see him
    face to face.
We don’t know everything,
    but then we will,
just as God completely
    understands us.
13 For now there are faith,
    hope, and love.
But of these three,
    the greatest is love.

Prayer

We do not want to believe in a Father of words. We want to believe in the Father who has been building a relationship with humankind throughout history. We seek the Father who can have a direct relationship with us now; the Father who can give us the words of truth directly.

Humanity today believes in God as an object. Yet today we do not seek God as a mere object of faith. We want a God who is our living and substantial subject partner, who can connect to our situations and lives, a Father who can never be separated from us and with whom we can spend time. Both God and humanity desire the moment that such a relationship is realized on the earth.

Although we may think that the garden of hope of the Father’s desires is a concept and an ideal, that is not true. We know that the time has come when we should have a concept of the Kingdom of Heaven as a realm we can enter, which we can feel through our actions and through our concrete senses, a realm which we can sing of with real emotion.

We know that the purpose of the providence of salvation, the history of restoration and salvation through the cross all were to build such a relationship. Please let today be a moment when we can call You our true Father and recognize without shame that we are Your true sons and daughters. In that state, let us sing, rejoice and listen to the words. Father, this is our sincere wish.

Although we have learned a considerable amount about the Father of history and the Father of words, we long for the Father whom we can testify to through our hearts; the Father we can experience through our bodies; the Father who can work the miracle of elevating our own words to be the very words of the Father. We long for the Father who can be together with us. Please let this be an hour when You arouse concrete feelings in us.

Father, please grant Your grace so that the sons and daughters who are gathered here can be in control of their minds and bodies. They are neither the masters of their minds nor of their bodies. They believe, unconsciously looking to some faraway place with a hopeful glance. We want to have faith in and rely upon some absolute being, yet we have not come to a point where we can be recognized by an absolute being.

We know that this is because we, who are in the position of object partners, are unworthy to receive the grace of the absolute being and absolute subject partner. Therefore, Father, please be our Lord, and put us in the position of Your object partners. Please allow Your truth to become our own beliefs. Please elevate us so that our hearts can be intoxicated in that truth, and we can sing of the all- encompassing love of the Father. In this hour, let there be a miracle which moves our minds, which we experience and is conveyed through our hearts and which unites us.

I am about speak the words, so please be with me. We do not want the words of a human being. We hear enough words from human beings. We have heard the words of many preachers who intone from the pulpit. This is not what we want to hear. We want to hear new words of truth which can bestir a dead life, revive a dead heart, and purify our clouded minds. We want the words of re-creation through which we can understand that our Father is the center of our hearts, our wills and our beliefs. We want to sense that we are eternally one with the Father. Please manifest this to us. Let this be a moment when You pour down upon us the sweet rain of grace.

We know that it is the work of Satan to form a gap between the heart of the speaker and the hearts of the listeners. Please guide us to remove any pride of our own accomplishments and recognize that all our accomplishments were done by the Father. Allow us to entrust everything to the Father. Praying that this will be a precious moment when we can receive the compassion of the Father, we prayed all these words in the name of the Lord. Amen.

This is why you are to become fil-
ial children in the family. Next, you are
to become patriots in the nation. From
the time of their birth, loyal subjects or
patriots do not stray from their duty.
They must proceed, remaining focused
night or day. Throughout my life, wheth-
er asleep or awake, I never lost my focus
on God’s will. Rising from my bed, I
keep going. For a thousand years and
even ten thousand years, I keep going.
It is because I have gained this kind of
victory that I am able to tell you that,
even if you had been unable to fulfill
your responsibilities as tribal messi-
ahs, you can still wipe out all your past
mistakes by fulfilling your responsibili-
ties as national messiahs. This is where
you should become filial children and
patriots. Pray for your brothers and sis-
ters with the heart of loving the nations
of the world. Only in this way can you
appear before God’s royal presence with
the status of divine sons and daughters
following their Parents. (283-77, 1997.4.8)

If those people say with glaring eyes,
“You shouldn’t drink alcohol. Go to the
devil!” they are just a group of good-for-
nothings. They have no peace of mind. I
am weary of them. When I see them say-
ing, “That goes against the Bible, Mat-
thew chapter so-and-so. You’re going
to hell,” really, those rogues. If killing
someone could save a nation, then don’t
you think they would pass a law to free
the person who had killed for the sake of
saving the nation? Those good-for-noth-
ings! They have to think about that…. If
there is a pine tree the size of a fist with
its roots wedged in a crack in the gran-
ite along the mountain ridge, not even a
dog going by would stop to urinate on
that tree. He would only urinate if it has
shade. The dog is ashamed of urinating,
so it goes close to something when it uri-
nates. That’s better than people. It goes
to the shade to urinate. Why? Because
he is ashamed if he is watched by others.

John 14: 1-19

It seems as though all the world’s Christians call Christ the bridegroom and assume they are the bride and can stand boldly in front of him. But this does not happen so easily. This does not happen through circumstances. It is only possible with an unchanging heart. Such a heart is not only one’s own heart; it has to be the historic heart of God as He strove for six thousand years, the heart that can transcend the present reality into the future. Heaven will only respond when we become the bride of such a heart, when we will live for Heaven, acknowledge the value of the subject and proclaim, “Oh, Lord, our bridegroom!”

We only treasure the words they left behind; we do not treasure those individuals who kept and live by the words. It is an historic sadness that people valued the promised, expected Messiah, but could not treasure him when he came as the embodiment of the word. The word seemed acceptable to them, but as a person, he was no different from any other person.

Unless we rethink such historical incidents, clear up our own sorrowful situations and elucidate the relationship of father and son which is supposed to be reestablished, neither hope, nor the Kingdom of Heaven, nor the ideal world will exist for us.

How can we explain the relationship between the Father and I when we are individuals who have received the blood lineage of sin? We cannot escape the bridle of sinful history. We live within the realm of sinfulness, unable to overcome it. Because we cannot accomplish these things even with effort, it is said that we are to believe in our hearts. This is the Gospel Christ passed on. He said to believe in our hearts, not through conditions.

Instead of being well-versed in the words of the sixty-six books of the Bible, you have to understand the heart of the Father behind it and what He wanted to reveal. You also have to understand the heart of the Father who did not want the Fall to take place. Instead of the bitterness due to the Fall, you have to understand the heart that desires to regain the lost Father and the heart that wants to restore humanity so that people no longer remain in such a situation. That will be your assignment. You have to transcend the gap if you wish to call God “Father” and become His sons and daughters.

God never told mankind to read the Bible at all times. Jesus did not even say to listen to his words all the time. He said to pray ceaselessly. During the three years of his public ministry, Jesus spoke many words. But until now, he has not said to live only by his words; he longed for us be concerned about his substantial self.

Because the world of the heart has no limits of distance, we can call even the greatest and most holy God “Father.” When He is called “Father” and sought after with a heart that is filled with the love between father and son, He would not be able to shun you. He would not say, “Your hands are not of Me, your body is not of Me, and your heart is not of Me.” When the heart is brought into oneness with Him, we become the Father’s extension. We are the extension and the Father’s second self. That is why the Bible said our body is a temple of God.

Then the question is: how do we go about unifying the heavenly nature of Jesus as he called God “Father” and our own nature? The unification of heart is more important than the question of similarities or differences of our natures. Thus, the words of Jesus, “In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you” (John 14:20) are precious words indeed.

The world of heart transcends time and space. Here, there cannot be such a word as revolution. That is why we can attend Jesus who passed away two thousand years ago as the Jesus of today. We can establish a relationship with him today. What should this relationship be based upon? It is not just words, and it is not just for a conceptual notion that Jesus carried the cross and died for me. It is possible only with heart.

Human Beings are Not Aligned with God’s Original Purpose

Cheon Seong Gyeong 2210

If, seeing your faithful determina-
tion, God takes heart and steps forward
to declare, “I am going to tear down
this evil world!” then, in that instant,
His sphere of activity will expand due
to your efforts. This will be a gift of joy
from Heaven more wonderful than any
coveted position, throne, place of honor,
and even awards that would be heaped
upon you over not only one but over
many lifetimes.
You should determine to confront
any kind of persecution in the course
of human history and even beyond that.
This is the path filial sons and daughters
who take on the responsibility to repre-
sent the history of eternity should take.
This is the way of loyalty to the eternal
Kingdom of Heaven. (255-121, 1994.3.10)

Cheon Seong Gyeong 770

Death means to be born in God’s
love. But in the human world, people
make a fuss, saying, “Oh, I am dying!”
Seeing this, would God laugh merrily
or would He exclaim, “Oh, no!”? When
God looks at people crying like this in
the human world, does He feel sorrow
or joy? Leaving the realm of limited love,
we enter the joyful realm of infinite love.
Isn’t death the moment to welcome this
joyfulness? Isn’t this going through the
path of death the moment of actually a
second birth?
If this is the case, would God be joy-
ful about the day your physical body is
gone? Would He be joyful when some-
one is born as a son or daughter who
can act for the sake of love in the sec-
ond, infinitely expanded world? Why
do I talk about such things? You cannot
establish a relationship with God with-
out liberating yourself from the fear of
death. I am speaking about this because
you must understand this reality. (116-172,
1982.1.1)

Let Us Halt in Our Steps and Behold the One Who Is Protecting Us

Rev. Sun Myung Moon
March 8, 1959

Psalm 121

Human beings have walked the long course of history, not knowing their destination. With what ideology were they born? At what destination will they arrive with the aid of that ideology? Based on what value are they going to connect to what purpose? You know very well that people have been struggling because they have not found a complete solution to any of these issues.

When people of faith discuss their existence, they say that their existence began from Heaven and will end in Heaven and that they are pursuing the ultimate value before the will of God. Yet, I believe that there must come a time when even the average person thinks like that. Although all we think about is centered on ourselves, our human purpose is not to be found in ourselves. We sense deep within us that we seek to transcend ourselves and be connected to some world of ideology.

However, there is a gap of time and space between that world and where we are now. If something can bridge this gap, it is not an academic theory or some clever means. This gap can be bridged only when we enter the world of the heart.

“Heart” has been a controversial topic in the religious sphere and in the areas of culture and the arts. There is heart at the level of the individual, heart at the levels of the family, the society, the nation and the world. Furthermore, if a Creator exists, an actual Lord, it is undeniable that this Lord is moving in line with the heart. Continue reading “Human Beings are Not Aligned with God’s Original Purpose”
