The way of restoration is the way by which people return to their original state, and therefore one cannot go this way without setting indemnity conditions. Indemnity conditions must be set by a man, not by God. If a person is sick, he must take medication in order to recover, even if the medicine tastes bitter and he does not like it. Good medicine tastes bitter. Something bitter becomes a truly good medicine. Setting indemnity conditions is difficult, like taking bitter medicine. However, unless indemnity conditions are set, restoration can never be accomplished. The way of salvation is the way of indemnification and restoration. Indemnity means going the route opposite to that of the Fall. It means going the reverse way. (92-254, 1977.4.18)

As buds, you have not yet bloomed. Do not become wicked like those who write love letters and have illicit love relationships. You should blossom naturally. When God sees you, He should be able to exclaim, “Oh! You have blossomed purely and naturally. Since I can smell the fragrance, I can tell that you are a virgin.” In this case, God feels so much hope. Does God want something pure or something damaged? What about you, then? Do you want something pure or something damaged? Even fallen men want to have something pure. Would God not value that even more? For this reason, I hope that you can blossom fully with a pure heart and be people of value who can go beyond the fallen world of today without being trapped in the valley of sorrow. You Must Deplore the Reality that Your Body Is the Devil’s Dance Hall

Christianity teaches about True Parents and love. It has taught about “brother” and “bridegroom” in relation to Jesus, and “parent” in relation to God. Since Christianity is completely based on the ideal of the family, it has taught us how to perfect in full measure the family idealized by God. Hence, it could rise above all other religions and unify the world.
Then who is Christ at the Second Advent? As the True Father and True Mother were lost in Eden, he is the one to come upon the earth as the True Father. He will become as one with God in heart, lineage and flesh, establish the position of True Mother, and form a family centered on this oneness. The Messiah’s family will be the first to live with and serve God. The Messiah solidifies the position of the perfected Adam. The Kingdom of Heaven will be established only after the perfected Adam and Eve marry, live on earth serving God, have sons and daughters centered upon Him, bring forth His clan and live on earth together with them, and then, finally, move on into the heavenly world together with God. There exists our vertical self that enables us to freely relate to vertical love. This is the mind. Until now the nature of mind has remained unknown, even within Buddhism. However, we in the Unification Church do know about it. We depict a spherical ideal with its center defined by a horizontal, vertical and front-to-back love axis. As that spherical ideal operates through God’s ideal of creation there can be no loss of energy running through east, west, north and south. Whenever in operation, only good will come; there will be neither evil nor conflict. (182-258, 1988.10.23)

He needs to find the true woman, thereby connecting vertical and horizontal, and achieve God-centered, unfallen perfection for the first time in history. From the outset of history, no one has been persecuted as much as I or faced as much opposition. In one era I had to be persecuted worldwide on the individual, family and tribal levels. The Unification Church tribe must be related to all peoples in all 160 nations of the world through the global association of Blessed Families. That is the work of restoration. We need to first carry out this work tribally, next on the level of a people and then nationally. (176-332)

What will you do with small ships? They will be used for fishing. For the most part, people are interested in fishing, but not so much interested in fishery itself, which is catching fish with nets. In the future, there will no longer be an interest in catching fish using nets, nor in riding on big boats. For this reason, I have built this New Hope. I have designed a boat that can sail on the river, as well as the sea. Now our New Hope is famous for fishing and guiding. It is not a boat that just goes out to the sea. Also, it is easily transferable to any location, simply by using an automobile. (262-240, 1994.8.1)

If you wish to take this boat from here to Florida, you can easily attach it to a car. On the water, it takes a couple of days to sail to Florida from here; but you can drive there in one day by car. It takes about four days from the West Coast to the East Coast by car, but one month if sailing on the sea. The boat was built to ride on the waves, to glide through two types of waves when in water. That is why it was built longer than twenty eight feet in length. It was designed that way because it will not sail properly if smaller. Based on this twenty eight foot long boat, we have also built other boats that are thirtyeight feet, fifty-two feet, ninety-eight feet, and 108 feet in length. The 108- foot long boat can even maneuver out in the rough waters of Alaska, and is perfect for fishing when using its dragnets. (262-240, 1994.8.1)

Should Young Men and Women Go on Dates?

What should blessed couples do if they fight? They should call their physical children and then their spiritual children to ask their forgiveness because the former represent Abel and the latter represent Cain. Having gone against the tradition that Cain and Abel should follow, they did not make Cain and Abel unite but did the opposite instead, and therefore must repent before them. Such a time will come. We share a common destiny. When the children do something wrong, they must obtain their parents’ forgiveness. If the husband, their father, does something wrong, he must beg them, and his wife, for forgiveness. This is the true family with true love at the center. (135-38, 1985.8.20)

On August 31, 1989, in Alaska I declared the Ceremony of the Settlement of the Eight Stages that allowed humankind to shift into the age when indemnity is no longer needed. This means that wherever I or the believers of the Unification Church go, the age of persecution is over. From now on, if we build the Kingdom of Heaven or do anything we want, no one can accuse us. That kind of foundation was laid by the Ceremony of the Settlement of the Eight Stages.

In the Western world, men and women shake hands, hold hands and hug each other so casually that they do not feel any special sensation. In the East, however, men and women rarely have physical contact with each other. So if they happen to merely brush against each other, they feel an electric spark.

Which is better, for men and women to have frequent physical contact or to refrain from touching until they are fully mature? When the electricity sparks, would you rather it be 50 volts or 100 volts? Therefore, you should wait. What do you think? Should young men and women go on dates, hold hands and kiss each other before marriage? You should wait and refrain from touching until you are fully ripe, like an apple that has turned totally red. Then even at the touch of your partner’s hand you will feel an exciting electrical spark. Yet most American women never experience the full sensation of first love, because having dissipated their electricity, the remaining charge is only at 50 volts or even 30 volts. Now what do you think of American style love?

Satan uses this and many other methods to invade the realm of high-intensity love. To a pure teenage boy, a girl is like a palace of mysteries. Likewise, to a pure teenage girl, a boy is like a palace of mysteries. But these days, where is the mystery? Boys and girls behave like animals. They love each other like cats and dogs, without any vertical love. (125:103, March 13, 1983)

The religious life is one in which your conscience tortures your body until it surrenders. Once the flesh is completely dead, your conscience should occupy it so it can never come back to life again. Thus, the mind must dominate the flesh.

Therefore, you should turn your habitual way of seeing inside out and see straight. Your eyes, which have been looking at things 180 degrees opposite the way they ought to, should now turn 180 degrees opposite their former way of seeing. Whereas, before, when you were on the satanic side you looked through the left eye, now you should look through the right eye. In other words, your eyes, which could not see properly because they were 180 degrees off, should be united with your conscience and return to their original place, coming back to the right side after having rotated 360 degrees. Richard: Paul here is especially talking about sexual sin and adulterous sexual desire. This is especially seen in the context of Romans 7:1-6.

Richard: Again, God speaks to the necessity of sexual purity before marriage and faithfulness in marriage.

Eschatology and Messianic Hope

The Last Judgement

People have viewed the prospect of Judgement Day with a mixture of hope and fear. It is a day of hope to the downtrodden, who will finally see vindication as the dominion of evil is overthrown and the guilty are punished. It is a day of fear to those who are painfully aware of their sins and in doubt about their salvation.
A last judgment of sorts comes upon every person individually at the time of death; this judgment was discussed in chapter 5. Yet there is also a collective judgment that falls upon the entire world at the end of Days. The divine promise of the Kingdom of God requires that evil be vanquished on earth once and for all.
While many believers interpret the Last Judgment as a supernatural event at the literal end of the world, Father Moon teaches that the Last Judgment is a real process that occurs at the change of the age, when the evil traditions of the past are put away and people everywhere take up the task of building the Kingdom of God on earth. as in Jesus’ parable of the wheat and the tares, although growth of goodness occurs unnoticed for a time amidst the fallen world, there will come the moment when the distinction between good and evil is clear as day. Then, as people recognize their sins and accept the judgment of God’s Word, they will be able to root out their sins and fallen nature and begin to embody the Word in daily life, gradually transforming their character to become people of heaven.

1. Everything Evil Is Exposed and Judgment is Passed

The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field; but while men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. So when the plants came up and bore grain, then the weeds appeared also. And the servants of the householder came and said to him, “Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then has it weeds?” He said to them, “An enemy has done this.” The servants said to him, “Then do you want us to go and gather them?” But he said, “No; lest in gathering the weeds you root up the wheat along with them. Let both grow together until the harvest; and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn.”

We Are Leading a Purity and True Family Movement

Today and tomorrow we will feature a special reading for this Holy Day.

Declaration of the Realm of the Cosmic Sabbath for the Parents of Heaven and Earth

This is the speech True Father, Rev. Moon gave on July 7, 1997 and through which he established Chil Pal Jeol (Eight Sevens Holiday).

You should know the sacredness of the name, “True Parents.” All creation was made for True Parents substantial realm. True Parents’ ideal realm must be realized even if it is at the cost of all that was created. The creation exists to achieve this realm. God created all things [Gen. 1–25] with this concept, which he had before the Creation. The name “True Parents,” which God had sought for thousands of years, will cut off all tumultuous things happening in the world and will achieve an ideal world, which is nothing less than the globalization of blessed families.

How do we globalize blessed families? True Parents will come and completely reverse the consequences of Adam’s corruption, which occurred at the age of sixteen, resulting in false love and the collapse of the family. Centered on True Parents, the path through which all people on earth can enter the kingdom of heaven has been opened—a path through which a perfected Adam’s family, which befits the original ideal envisaged at the Creation, is from God’s lineage, receives the blessing, serves God and leaves behind God’s lineage.

The kingdom of heaven has been empty until now. Adam’s family did not enter that kingdom, nor did any other ancestor until now. Thanks to True Parents, we will be organized into a first generation and a second generation and completely fill the kingdom of heaven. Today is the day through which we proclaim this liberated realm. What day is it today? It is the day of the Declaration of the Realm of the Cosmic Sabbath for the Parents of Heaven and Earth.

Throughout history, the only field that God could take possession of was the realm of the Sabbath. Everything else, however, belonged to Satan. The sons and daughters were not God’s nor was all of creation or even the nation. Nothing belonged to God. In order to return everything to God, True Parents had to come.

Our ideal family is the home where God rests. We, therefore, need to understand in what kind of home God can rest. God lost the home where he could rest. Hence, finding the ideal family for God meant finding that home where he could rest. Can everyone reach that level of home where God can rest? What level is it? There is a home of rest on the individual level, on a couple’s level and on a family level. A family level home includes sons and daughters. Next, the home in which God can rest at the family level needs a tribe, a tribal home of rest. Transcending the tribal level home is one at the national level. Following this is a home at the global level, one at the cosmic level and finally God’s home of rest. How many levels of homes are there? There are eight levels.

What has the formation of this home of rest centered on? True Parents and the True Children. An entire line should form centered on this family. That is why Unification Church members must become tribal messiahs. You should become familial messiahs and tribal messiahs. After forming a nation, you become a national messiah and then a global messiah. The global messiah is the king of kings. When this happens, the kingdom of heaven forms on earth.

We are promoting purity and absolute sex. Absolute sex is sex based on true love, which is why we are leading a purity and true family movement. True love is the center of this purity and true family movement. A family becomes a pure, true family centered on true love. Without true love, neither purity nor a true family emerges.

The providence of salvation is the history of restoration, which must pass through process of recreation based on the principle of indemnity. Otherwise, perfection is unattainable. How shocking is a history based on this standard! That is why you must forget all of Satan’s sons and daughters. How great would God’s pain be being in a position where he cannot forget those whom he would rather forget? How much did God invest from an unfathomable position for those whom he cannot forget? What, then, is God trying to achieve by investing in this manner? He is looking for an object partner of love.

Who can understand God’s lonesome circumstances in loving those whom he cannot love? God is in a position in which he cannot interfere even if we follow a path that may lead to the destruction of the entire cosmos nor can he forget those whom he would prefer to forget. Even though he should break off from them, he continued investing in them. That is not the end. He has to love them more than he did the original Adam and Eve.

Given that he is unable to forget what he would rather forget, who can understand God’s heart and how lonely it is? Who can truly understand God’s circumstances as he repeatedly invested, forgot that he had invested and invested again in people that could not be recreated, for thousands of years? Who can truly understand God’s heart as he loved those people who has left behind the worst and had many bruises, people whom he would rather not love?

Because I was aware of that tradition, I am investing even my life to save the enemies’ children, people that deserve to be beaten and thrown into hell. You should be aware that the circumstances True Parents are in require that they love such children more than their own sons and daughters, even if it means sacrificing their own children. That is why, no matter the amount, the existing seawater is insufficient to fill the valley formed by the tears that have been shed. Only true love can fill this valley.

We must follow the path of not forgetting even what we would rather forget, investing in those we cannot invest in and loving those we cannot love. Even if one is to die once, twice, thrice, one should follow that path even after resurrection. The Old Testament Age failed. The New Testament Age failed. The Completed Testament Age failed. That I had to go through a forty-year wilderness course within one generation is grievous. The failure of one generation of Adam’s family is not a problem. This is sadness greater than that experienced when Jesus could not rule over all nations.

From that position, I have pioneered the way that can open the door of liberation to all nations, based on families worldwide, and guide all people in one direction.

Just as the people of Israel set off to establish a nation when they were suffering in Egypt, families that Satan had imprisoned have become families in the ideal kingdom of heaven that can enter the liberated kingdom of heaven. This is that very moment and the fact that we can partake in it is indeed something we should feel great gratitude for and respond by rendering due glory. This moment constitutes nothing less than the declaration of the Realm of the Cosmic Sabbath for the Parents of Heaven and Earth.

Richard: This Holy Day has a special meaning for our family. Stacey, Sarah and I were in South Korea at the Chung Pyung Lake retreat center when True Father, Rev. Moon, declared this Holiday in the early morning. Later that morning, Rev. Moon visited the tent where the workshop participants were studying. At that time Rev. Moon spoke to the participants, including me, Stacey and Sarah.
Furthermore, this holiday is integrally linked to the 3.6 million couples Blessing held at Robert F. Kennedy stadium in Washington, DC on November 29th, 1997. Stacey and I lived in east Capitol Hill, Washington DC at that time, and until 2016. The stadium was very near our Home Church area, and we promoted the Blessing in our neighborhood. We also were involved, with John Robbins with inviting the RFK Blessing event to Washington, DC. John had invited Mayor Marion Barry to host the event. He had agreed. But when Rev. Moon came to speak, Marion Barry failed to show up to give the invitation personally. I asked then city Councilmember Harry Thomas, Sr. to give the invitation letter to Rev. Moon, and he did.
